Remembering the SANDF Capability Demo 2017

The South African Air Force (SAAF) together with elements of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) again demonstrated its airpower and readiness to defend the country against attack by a hostile force during the Capability Demo 2017.

Only five years ago and how times have changed. Last year we learned of the grounding of the Gripens due the service contract not having been renewed. This state of affairs still to a large extend apply as some may now be air airworthy but whether they are combat ready or operationally certified is not clear. The lack of any flying during the Air Force Prestige day seem to prove that they are not.
