AvClicks Photo Competition May 2016 Finalist

Firstly a big thank you to all that has supported the photo competition, not only the photographers but all those you have casted their votes as well. The results are strictly based on the number of votes received and safeguards have been built in to only count only one vote per IP address.

The May finalist represents the work of four different photographers, three of which were taken on shutter priority and one on manual.

Aviation photography at best is a rather tricky hobby. The subject moves fast and the light is continually changing. In my experience shutter priority is the best option for propeller driven aircraft where one wants to capture movement in the propeller. A static propeller resulting from to high shutter speeds looks totally abnormal. High shutter speeds in shutter priority or aperture priority works well when photographing jet powered aircraft.
