AVIATION AWARENESS # 4

08.03.2026

The process of growing our students.

We have now realised the first steps in the Project, to find interested potential pupils and encourage them into our system. We also need, as an officially registered Non-Profit Company (unlike so many who claim to be, but have front people scooping up a large share of the donations …) sponsors and donors to help us achieve our goals.

By going to our website, you can view our proof of registration with CIPRO, SARS and Dept of Welfare. We are able to issue donors tax-deductible invoices FROM OURSELVES, not a fundraising mob. It's very important that we are totally transparent and audited every year to safeguard our supporter's desire to help find and develop new talent AND get maximum effect from every cent.

But, you may well ask, what do we actually teach?

· We teach practical hands-on life skills with a unique set of kits that are delivered to each student.

· Both hard and soft skills will be acquired by the students.

· We start the students off with achieving the basic skills required in the following categories:-

1. Understanding written instructions.
2. Matching components with visual instructions and diagrams.
3. Operating simple projects as per written and visual instructions.
4. Create awareness of options and ideas to personalise individual projects with colour and design.
5. How to use basic hand tools to create, adjust and maintain simple working objects.
6. How to use adhesives, tapes and paints in a safe and correct manner.
7. The correct procedures to manage and store project tools, materials, instructions and completed items.
8. The ability take simple photographs and short video clips.
9. The basics of electrical circuits, batteries, wiring and associated technology.
10. The basic sciences of aviation.
11. The basics of ground transportation systems.
12. The basics of aviation and airport systems.
13. The importance of rules and safety.
14. Why aviation and technology have such strict rules.
15. Basic hand-eye co-ordination tests and training.
16. Basic non-invasive medical screening and evaluation.
17. Communication systems.
18. Phonetic codes.
19. Weather systems.
20. Navigation and maps.
21. Maintenance principles.
22. Instruments and controls of land transport systems.
23. Instruments and controls of aviation systems.
24. And so forth….

This list goes on a long way, but by now I'm sure you've picked up the principles…We need to get away from the 'no-assembly-required' way of life and introduce simple principles that often have not even been taught to parents, or dare we say it - some of the teachers..?

Next time out, I will introduce the 'Cone of Learning' concept as pioneered at
Dale College in the USA. This helps everyone get to understand the importance of giving people the 'hands-on experience' that is so desperately needed.

We can't 'put the toothpaste back in the tube' - time has marched on past a lot of youngsters, but we CAN create the next group of determined and educated students that YOU WILL WANT TO HIRE AND TRAIN.

Until next issue…………………..
