When I arrived at Trike City at dawn, Marius Dreyer had the hanger doors open – what a welcoming sight!! Perfect weather for trike flying. Not a breath of wind.

Shortly after I started the pre-flight on my beloved trike, the rest of the Trike City guys arrived. What a great bunch to fly with, we all share the same passion for trike flying.

Marius Dreyer, Neil de Lange, Kevin Fernandes, our aerial photographer Izak Nel and I soon had our trikes ready to go. Taxiing to holding point 36 with the sun peeping over the horizon is a beautiful sight. Unfortunately, our fellow pilot Wouter Havenga was absent.

After doing all our run-up checks we were ready to take to the skies. Like ducks in a row we were all airborne and headed for Rhinopark for a welcome cup of cappuccino (except Kevin, who insists on drinking tea).

Some good formation flying and Marius checking if we were behaving from the back in his ‘BabyMig.’ Spectacular views through the morning mist are the rewards for early flying. Touch down at Rhinopark we all chatted and shared some stunning pics and footage taken by Izak.

After some lovely warm drinks and good visibility, we got airborne and headed for Bronkhorstspruit Dam. Approaching the dam, the growth of the hyacinth was once again visible after being cleared of it not so long ago. On route to the FABB flying conditions changed and the wind and thermals started to pick up. We joined overhead the airfield and had safe landings.

Upstairs in Trike City’s cozy departure/arrivals lounge we chatted about our mornings’ flying. Thanks, Trike City and my Partners in crime for a great morning with you all!!!
